Power Beyond port for ML111 unusable...

Anyone out there...?
Given the traffic on this forum, I am not terribly optimistic for a response - but - can anyone tell me why the power beyond port (I assume it is the Pwr Byd since it has "BYD" stamped by it) on the ML111 control box is rendered almost entirely inaccessible and quite unusable by a chunky 1/4 inch metal plate ? See attached photograph.

I want to add a 3rd fuction control for a Grapple which needs to take advantage of Pwr Byd... Other than protection, the only obvious purpose of the plate is as a bracket for a thin plastic control box cover. Definitely overkill for that!
But it's also going to be pretty tough to cut in to if I wish to make room for my Hydraulics upgrade.

Any comments...?
